R22 is classed as a hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) based refrigerant which is in the process of being phased out due to its high level of ozone-depleting potential.
The new alternative that is being introduced is hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) R410a refrigerant which has an
ozone-depleting potential of zero. R410a is marginally more efficient than R22 and better for the environment. |
